Nadine Martens Reed – Tomball Museum Oral History Project

Kyle Stallones interviews Nadine Martens Reed whose father, Leonard, operated one of the largest poultry and egg farms in the Tomball area on a 354 acre ranch. For over 50 years Leonard’s country eggs were sold to many grocery stores, convenience stores and restaurants around Tomball as well as the Houston area. Nadine relives the stories of growing up in that era, harvesting “Honey Wagon” doo-doo and other humorous stories made famous by 30,000 chicks. Nadine also chronicles the lives of some of her ancestors, including the Henrichs, Martens and Seidel as well as other German immigrants.
